Kanchipuram, the “Temple Town of India” boasted of more than a thousand temples the past. Some of the world’s best varieties of silk are produced here. Historically, it has been the capital of Pallava, Chola and Vijaynagar rulers. Ekambareswarar Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva is the most prominent landmark of Kanchipuram.

There is a mango tree in the temple complex whose four branches produce four different varieties of mangoes! Kailashnatha Temple, Kamamshi Amman Temple and Vaikuntha Perumal Temple are also thronged by devotees and tourists.
